Terms of Service — Cortex AI

Cortex AI, a product by Ikhlim ("we", "us"), is a locally-run AI assistant distributed on a physical drive. By using this software, you agree to these terms.

1. What you're getting

A USB/portable drive containing: local AI models, a coding-assistant application, optional email/calendar integration, and supporting software. It runs entirely on your own computer. We do not host or operate any part of it remotely.

2. Third-party components

This product bundles open-source AI models, each under its own license:

• Ornith (MIT License)
• Qwen2.5 (Apache License 2.0)

Full license text for each is included in the licenses/ folder on the drive. Optional cloud AI providers (NVIDIA, and any others you configure) are separate services governed by their own terms — you are responsible for any account, API key, and costs associated with them.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Cortex AI to:

• Violate any applicable law
• Generate content that harasses, threatens, or exploits any individual
• Engage in fraud, impersonation, or the creation of malware
• Violate the acceptable use policies of any bundled AI model or connected third-party service, including:
  • Meta's Llama Acceptable Use Policy (if applicable to models you add)
  • Google's Gemma Prohibited Use Policy (if applicable to models you add)
  • Google's API Services User Data Policy (for the Gmail/Calendar integration)

4. No warranty

This software, and all bundled AI models, are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your use case — you are responsible for reviewing anything the assistant produces before relying on or sending it (including, in particular, any drafted emails — the software is designed to require your explicit approval before sending anything, but you remain responsible for what you approve).

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ikhlim is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this software, including damages related to AI-generated content, third-party service costs, or data loss.

6. Your data, your device

We do not collect, receive, or have access to any data you process with this software. See our Privacy Policy for details. You are solely responsible for backing up any conversation memory or files you create.

7. Changes

We may update these terms for future versions of the product. The version included on your drive at time of purchase governs your use of that drive.
